What is GIGA and the Antarctica immersive exhibition in Barcelona?

GIGA is a new cultural destination in Barcelona dedicated to immersive exhibitions. Its first show, Antarctica, invites visitors on a journey to the South Pole. It combines visual art, immersive storytelling, and scientific insights.

Who created the Antarctica immersive exhibition?

The exhibition is directed by Oscar-winning filmmaker Luc Jacquet (March of the Penguins), supported by a team of scientists and artists to create an immersive, educational journey.

What will I experience inside the exhibition?

Visitors will embark on a journey to the South Pole, exploring multiple immersive rooms that recreate each stage of this expedition. The experience combines large-scale visual projections, dynamic sound effects, and cinematic storytelling to fully immerse visitors in the Antarctic world.

Will there be an audio guide?

No, there is no audio guide. But you’ll be able to access, through a QR code, a webpage where all the details, fun facts, and curiosities about each part of the exhibition will be explained.

Is the exhibition indoors or outdoors?

The immersive exhibition Antarctica experience takes place entirely indoors at La Cúpula, Arenas Shopping Centre in Barcelona.

What languages is the exhibition available in?

What kind of immersive experience is it? Are there virtual reality headsets?

This is a unique immersive experience in a space of more than 2,000 m² that combines impressive scenographies, 360º projections, interactive areas, and spectacular architecture and sound. We don’t focus on a type of virtual reality immersion, but rather on a cultural, pedagogical, scenographic, and audiovisual immersion—without the need to use virtual reality headsets.
